Supporting Special Educational Needs

Shree Deb

Inclusion

At The Grove Academy, it is our mission to provide an inclusive environment where every child is supported to learn and thrive.  All children learn in different ways and, for some, there may be barriers which prevent them from making the progress we would expect.

When this happens, teachers will explore different ways to support the pupil’s learning and can access support from the school’s Inclusion team, Mrs Beaufort and Mrs Tustain who are The Grove Academy’s ‘Special Education Needs and Disabilities Coordinators’ or SENDCOs.  School staff will work together with parents, carers and where appropriate, external professionals to help any children who are in need of SEN support.

There are four main needs types of SEN:

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Social, Emotional, Mental Health
  • Physical need

If you think your child may have a special education need, please contact Mrs Beaufort and Mrs Tustain using senco@thegroveacademy.org.uk
