Year 1

In-School Visit – History of Toys Day – Thursday 9th November 2023

Year 1 have been learning about how toys have changed over the years. They began by talking about their favourite toys, then they sorted toys into old and new and they even looked at toys that their grandparents would have played with when they were little! Safe to say, the children were shocked that their grandparents didn’t have play stations!

On Tuesday 13th of December a company called ‘History off the Page’ are coming in to do a toy workshop. The children will have the opportunity to play with toys from the past, discover what they were made of and may even get the chance to make one!

Trip Langleybury Children’s Farm – Monday 20th May 2024

We are thrilled to inform you that our Year 1 students will be venturing on an exciting trip to the farm! Our Science unit this term has been all about naming common animals and looking at their diet and this excursion promises to be a perfect extension of our learning. At the farm, students will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the diversity of animals and their unique characteristics. Through engaging activities and up-close encounters with farm animals, they will deepen their understanding while creating unforgettable memories. We are confident that this experience will not only reinforce classroom learning but also spark further curiosity and enthusiasm for the natural world in our young learners

This is extremely exciting for our school and the objective of the visit will be to develop pupils’ independence, whilst staying away from home in a safe and secure setting. They will also have the opportunity to explore the Isle of Wight and take part in a variety of activities, such as visits to: Tapnell farm, Alum Bay and Blackgang Chine. We hope that all of our Year 6 pupils will participate in the visit.
