We believe that Art is a subject in which all children can excel and produce something that is totally unique to them. We want children to see the subject as one with unlimited possibilities, as an alternative form of expression and spark curiosity from discussions about different pieces.

We want our children to think creatively and become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and more.

They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation. Children will be taught about famous artists; asking questions about their work and hypothesising about their inspirations. Children will have the opportunity to mimic an artist’s style, whilst adding their own unique flair, every year from Years 1-6 so that by the end of KS2 they are able to talk about a range of artists.

And who knows? We could have the next Picasso in our school!
